William Saliba has said he wants to 'give back' to the fans who so clearly adore him after they made a chant for him early on this season.
The Frenchman has been one of the standout defenders in the Premier League thus far and his contributions have helped Arsenal climb to the top of the table. Most recently, he received the Player of the Match award for an outstanding performance as the Gunners recorded a statement win at Stamford Bridge.
During Arsenal's 3-0 win at Bournemouth in Arsenal - a game where Saliba scored his first ever goal for the club - fans sung his name for the first-time. Now, he says he wants to repay the supporters' devotion by playing as well as he possibly can on the pitch.

"The chant? Yeah, of course I've heard it [laughs]. I heard it since the beginning," he told Premier League Productions. "I want to give them [the fans] back everyday I'm on the pitch. So, thank you for that."
Whilst the supporters cannot fault what he's doing on the pitch at the moment, what they really want is for Saliba to commit his long-term future to the club. Though the club remain optimistic, Mikel Arteta admitted just last month that he fears the Frenchman won't sign a new deal: "I don’t know," Arteta told football.london. "I was really impressed and at the same time surprised when I spoke to him. Obviously the way the relationship started and he went on loan, and he came back, and he went again.
"If that was a bit of damage there, because obviously he had certain expectations and something happened, but again he was so committed and so focused just to play for Arsenal that I think it took all of us by a little bit of surprise. So if I look at how he talks about the club and how much he wants to be here, I have no doubts that he wants to continue to be here."
