Arsenal defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with the north London club.
Saliba joined the Gunners in the summer of 2019 before being sent on three loan spells at three different Ligue 1 clubs to further his development. His most recent temporary stay was with Marseille during the 2021/22 campaign, where he won the Ligue 1 young player of the year award due to his consistent performances in central defence.
He then started Arsenal's first 27 Premier League matches last season as Mikel Arteta's side led the Premier League title race before the French international picked up a lower back injury that ruled him out of the final 11 league fixtures. Eventually, Manchester City pipped the north Londoners to the title, with Saliba now voicing his frustrations at missing the key part of the season after the club announced that he had extended his stay by penning a new deal.
