The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a new photograph to mark their 12th wedding anniversary. The image, snapped by Matt Porteous, shows the royal couple posing casually in the sunshine.
The Royal Wedding took place in 2011 at Westminster Abbey. The 12th anniversary is traditionally known as the Silk anniversary, and the couple is marking it just a week ahead of King Charles' Coronation.
Having been posed outside on bikes, the picture reflects the couple’s environmental passions, including, most recently, the Earthshot Prize they launched. Dubbed “the most prestigious global prize for the environment in history” it is the culmination of William and Kate’s work on environmentalism and their efforts going forward, reports MirrorOnline.
The photographer had previously shot William and Kate during their controversial Caribbean tour that saw them blasted as "tone deaf". Royal fans flooded the replies and comments of their anniversary posts with their best wishes.
William and Kate got married after a ten-year relationship that began when they were both university students in Scotland Following their wedding they have since had three children together, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The country will this week once again watch the pomp and pageantry of the Royal family as Charles is crowned following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II last September. Last night, Buckingham Palace released the final photos of some senior royals ahead of the Coronation.
This included one of Charles and Camilla where she made a touching tribute to Elizabeth II, wearing a pair of her pearl earrings. Westminster Abbey will once again take centre stage when the King is crowned at midday next Saturday (May 6).
The service will begin at 11am and will continue until 1pm when the newly crowned King and Queen embark on their coronation procession back to Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach. Royal fans can tune into the entire spectacle, which will be filmed live by the BBC.
Viewers can look out for heads of state, overseas government representatives, Government ministers, first ministers, former prime ministers, foreign royals and members of the royal family among the congregation. After arriving back at the palace, Charles and Camilla will receive a royal salute from the military in the palace gardens.
This will be followed by a balcony moment when Charles and Camilla will be joined by other members of the royal family to watch a flypast.
