Prince Willian and Kate Middleton were met with protests as they landed in Jamaica tonight amid calls for them to apologise for the monarchy’s role in slavery.
The royal couple's arrival to the Caribbean island was criticised by campaigners and senior politicians, who called their visit “ill-timed and ill-conceived”.
It is expected that the island nation will be the next member of the Commonwealth to ditch the Queen as head of state, following in the footsteps of Barbados which officially becoming a republic last year, the Mirror reports.
