Will you be celebrating the King's Coronation in Scotland?

Half of Scots won't be tuning into the King's Coronation next week, as they "don't care" about the royal event, according to a recent poll.

A YouGov poll, published this month, has revealed that the UK's interest in the historic occasion has dipped - as 35 per cent of 3,070 Brits surveyed have "not very much interest" in the forthcoming event.

But Scotland is the country with the least interest as 45 per cent admitted to not caring "at all". A separate YouGov poll revealed that 50 per cent of Scots won't be celebrating the formal induction of King Charles III next Saturday.

Of all Brits, only nine per cent said they cared "a great deal", with 19 per cent looking forward to celebrating. Most of those who don't care are younger, as 33 per cent of those aged 18-24 have no plans to mark the occasion.

Meanwhile, those aged 25-49 also express apathy towards the Coronation. In contrast, over 65s were found to be more royal, with 14 per cent caring the most and 35 per cent most likely to celebrate.

His Majesty's Coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6, with a new Bank Holiday to allow for nationwide festivities. The event itself will begin at 11 am on Saturday, and be broadcast live from Westminster Abby.

Around 2,000 invites have been sent out for the event to foreign royals, high-ranking politicians and members of the British royal family. On Sunday, a concert at Windsor Castle will take place, with 20,000 tickets raffled to members of the public.

Later at Buckingham Palace, the King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial events.
