BBC One's Happy Valley will air its final episode on Sunday, February 5. Viewers have been gripped ever since the police drama returned on New Year's Day after a six-year hiatus.
But, as they say, all good things must come to an end and this is true of the popular series, which stars Sarah Lancashire, James Norton and Siobhan Finneran, as bosses have confirmed that season three will be the last.
Speaking about the decision to end Happy Valley after just three seasons, writer, creator and executive producer Sally Wainwright said: "The intention developed through conversations I had with Sarah to make it a three-parter, to make a trilogy. We always said this would be the final season and it is very definitely is the final season."

However, the Happy Valley actors have promised the ending will not disappoint, with James Norton, who plays Tommy Lee Royce, explaining: "I think the reason this series is particularly exciting is because everyone knows it’s the last and so everyone is going to be waiting for something to happen, and everyone is sort of predicting and guessing how Sally wants to end it."
He added: "I have been predicting for the last seven years how she is going to end it so it was really wonderful to read the script and hear her ideas - and they don’t disappoint."
While the BBC's Chief Content Officer, Charlotte Moore said: "Happy Valley is the ultimate event TV, Sally Wainwright’s emotional rollercoaster has gripped the nation and grown week on week across the start of 2023.
"Water cooler moments don’t get much bigger than the unmissable final ever episode this Sunday."
