The BBC’s legal drama The Split dropped its entire third season on BBC iPlayer earlier this month. Episodes are also airing weekly for those that don’t want to finish a series in one sitting.
Show creator Abi Morgan made her directorial debut with The Split’s third season with help from Bridgerton director Dee Koppang O’Leary. Nicola Walker, Stephen Mangan, Annabel Scholey, Fiona Button, Deborah Findlay and Chukwudi Iwuji have reprised their roles for the series, along with a new face.
Sherlock’s Lara Pulver plays Kate, a child psychologist, in the third series. But is The Split confirmed for another season and what should you expect from season three? Here’s everything you need to know.

Will there be a season 4 of The Split?
The BBC confirmed last year that the third season would be its last. Creator Morgan explained her decision for ending the show in season three.
She said: “It was always the plan and in fact I don’t think I’m saying anything out of turn here, the BBC would have loved us to have gone on really. But I always conceived it as three.”
The hit show averaged more than six million viewers and in excess of 19 million streams for its second season, becoming the third most watched drama series on BBC iPlayer in 2020.
Morgan added: "The Split was meant to be about the legacy of the split, and season 1 is really Hannah reflecting on her childhood and the legacy of her parents' divorce, and then 2 was about the affair. And then 3 is really about Hannah facing her own divorce. So I'd always considered it as three.”
What to expect from The Split season 3
The drama follows three Defoe sisters - Hannah (Walker), Nina (Scholey) and Rose (Button) and their mother Ruth (Rindlay) as they live in the complex world of London’s high-end divorce circuit.
Season three fast forwards 10 months after Hannah has ended her marriage with Nathan. The separation reveals cracks within Hannah and her betrayal is exposed. The two professional divorce lawyers must negotiate their own divorce but when the stakes become clear Hannah realises how much she could lose.
