Does the Samsung Galaxy S26 support Qi2 magnetic charging?
Best answer: The Samsung Galaxy S26 is Qi2-certified just like the S25, but native Qi2 charging is not present. You'll need a compatible case with the Galaxy S26 in order to use Qi2 charging.
Is not having native Qi2 charging on the Galaxy S26 a deal-breaker?
Magnetic wireless charging using the Qi2 standard on Android phones has gotten trendy only in 2025, thanks to a lot of hype drummed up by companies like Samsung and Google. This is essentially the same tech that Apple introduced back in 2020 with the launch of the iPhone 12 series. Of course, charging speeds have gotten better since it debuted, but not all Qi2 phones are built the same.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 does support Qi2 charging but Samsung has not put magnets inside the phone in favor of slimmer and lighter designs. Google's Pixel 10 series are still the only phones to feature built-in magnets, as of now. I personally don't think this is a very big deal as most people would end up using a case with their Galaxy S26 anyway, so why not use a Qi2-compatible case.
Barring the base Galaxy S26 which still supports just 15W wireless charging, the Galaxy S26 Plus can now charge up to 20W wirelessly and the Galaxy S26 Ultra can do 25W. Samsung has a new marketing name for the Ultra's wireless capability which it calls "Super Fast Wireless Charging." In all likelyhood, the S26 Ultra seems to support the Qi2 25W standard just like the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Another reason you might not want built-in magnets for charging in your phone is the death of reverse wireless charging. Samsung calls this "Wireless PowerShare" but it basically turns the back of your phone into a wireless charging pad. The Galaxy S26 still has this feature but the Pixel 10 series had to forfeit it. This isn't necessarily a rule, given how the HMD Skyline has both native Qi2 and reverse wireless charging present.
Samsung seems to be mindful of what its users want, as it conducted a survey asking them if they'd be okay trading slimness for built-in Qi2 magnets. It's feedback like this that led them to remove Bluetooth functionality from the Galaxy S25 Ultra's S Pen since it found less than 1% of users actually used Air Actions.
Well, the votes are in for Qi2 and it seems as though the majority chose a slim design over built-in magnets.
