Will Smith’s family put on a sparkling front last night, as they rallied together to support the actor at his first red carpet appearance since the Oscars eight months ago.
The actor, who infamously slapped 2022’s Academy Awards host Chris Rock, put on a spotless display as his career comeback begins, and he promotes his new film, Emancipation. It began confidently at yesterday’s LA premiere.
All five pulled out the stops, led by Will in a three-piece burgundy suit and a light pink shirt which featured a statement, deconstructed collar and diamond fastening. For a little symmetry, his eldest son Trey, whose mother is Will’s former wife Sheree Zampino, picked a matching colour overcoat paired with a pink sweater and navy slacks.
Smith’s wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, delivered high glamour with a voluminous, white ruffle train gown by Parisian couturier Stéphane Rolland. The silhouette harked back to the green Jean Paul Gaultier gown she wore for the eventful Oscars evening this year, when a joke about her alopecia saw her husband lose his temper. She polished the look with spikey, silver heels and a blingy ear cuff by LA jeweller Katkim.
Her and Will’s children, Jaden and Willow, were expectedly cool in alternative types of tailoring. Jaden opted for a down-filled monochrome printed suit and matching overcoat with a white shirt and skinny black tie, while Willow looked sleek in a black waistcoat and flares with diamanté cutouts at the hips. The party-girl outfit had been plucked off Stella McCartney’s SS23 runway, where it was modelled by Bella Hadid.
The outing was a strong step for Will’s family man image, as he pictured kissing his wife’s head and cuddling his (very well clad) kids.
