Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have completed filming for the highly anticipated fourth installment of the Bad Boys franchise. The original Bad Boys movie, released in 1995, featured Smith as Mike Lowrey and Lawrence as Marcus Burnett, two Miami detectives tackling drug trafficking and other crimes.
The success of the first film led to sequels, with Bad Boys II hitting theaters in 2003 and Bad Boys for Life in 2020. Fans have eagerly awaited news of a fourth film, and on January 31, 2023, Smith and Lawrence confirmed the project in a viral video.
In the video, Smith teased the announcement by playing the song 'Shake Ya Tailfeather' from the Bad Boys II soundtrack before revealing the news with Lawrence. The duo expressed excitement for the upcoming film, joking about the title choices for the previous installments.
Since the announcement, Smith and Lawrence have been busy filming in various locations, including Atlanta and Miami. Despite their absence at CinemaCon in April 2023, the actors shared their enthusiasm for Bad Boys 4, with Lawrence humorously stating they were not sorry for missing the event.
The production of Bad Boys 4 faced delays due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which lasted from July to November. The star-studded cast of the upcoming film includes Vanessa Hudgens, Melanie Liburd, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núnez, Jacob Scipio, Eric Dane, and Ioan Gruffudd.
