MUMBAI: At a time when women's cricket in India has grabbed the limelight with the Indian women's team winning a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, young girls wishing to take up the sport as a career option have received a setback.

Even though it has introduced a new U-16 women's One-Day tournament for women cricketers, the Board has come under fire for having shelved the Women's Under-23 One-Day and T20 Trophies from the domestic calendar for the 2022-23 season.
