Filming for the highly anticipated series three of the Netflix period drama Bridgerton has continued in 2023, however, one main cast member is missing. Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton and was the star of the first series, is not returning for the third series of the show.
Talking to Screen Rant at the Sundance Film Festival Phoebe said that she will not be appearing in the third series. When asked if there are any interesting dynamics for Daphne in the next season of Bridgerton, Phoebe said: "Sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future...But season three, I'm just excited to watch as a viewer."
Series three of the show will follow the love story and relationship of the third eldest Bridgerton brother, Colin, who is played by Luke Newton, and Penelope Featherington, who is played by Derry Girls' Nicola Coughlan.

Penelope is also the mysterious and anonymous Lady Whistledown who is the author of the scandal sheet, that exposes the secrets of members of the 'Ton'. At the end of series two Penelope's best friend, Eloise Bridgerton, who is played by Claudia Jessie, realises that Penelope is Lady Whistledown and their friendship ends.
Also in the final episode, Penelope overhears Colin saying that he would never court her, leaving it open for series three to see how their relationship will develop. It has also been revealed that three new cast members will be joining the romantic series.
Daniel Francis, who has previously starred in Stay Close, will be joining the cast as Marcus Anderson, 'a charismatic presence who lights up any room he enters, attracting the notice of certain matriarchs in the 'Ton - and the ire of others'.
