Coronation Street actor Will Mellor has given fans an update on his health, as he shared a video of himself easing pain in his knees ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing launch show on Friday.
Rehearsals for the much-loved BBC series are well underway, with 46-year-old Will appearing to have suffered a slight injury as he put on his dancing shoes.
In a clip shared on Instagram, the Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star sat down on a chair as he held a bag of frozen peas to his knee, after previously revealing he is worried about suffering a knee injury live on air.
In the video, Will said: "Just in rehearsal for Strictly. Will's knees sponsored by peas."
"I'm knackered," he added while trying to catch his breath.
Captioning the post, Will wrote: "In rehearsal for @bbcstrictly!! My knees are in shock!! #tooldforthis #strictlycomedancing #dancing #badknees #shattered."
Fans took to the comments to encourage Will to keep going.
One person wrote: "You’re the peas knees!! keep going pal!!"
Another said: "Keep going Will x," with a third adding: "No getting out of it Will. You get my vote."
"I cannot wait to see you and the rest of the cast this year! I’ve never watched it before but this line up is TV Gold.. hope the knee feels better x."
Will, who has a history of knee trouble dating back more than 10 years, admitted he thinks there's a chance some of his dance routines could go wrong.
"I don't want to get injured. I've got bad knees and football injuries, operations and stuff. I'm having to ice them every night, he told Digital Spy.
He added: "If they pop out in the middle of a dance routine live on telly, there's not much I can do because I will just hit the floor, and they do.
"They've popped out while I've been walking down the stairs before now. I can pop it back in, but at that moment, I have no strength in the leg."
Will has recently opened up about the effect his dad's death had on him and how it "changed his mindset", pushing him to sign up for Strictly.
He lost his dad Bill in April 2020, just two weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer.
Will said: "I lost my dad in 2020 and everything changed and it just crippled me. I thought, 'I've got to grab life, I've got to do stuff.' It really changed my mindset and I've just got to say yes to more things.
"I'm going to say yes to more stuff. I've got to grab life and create memories. Because that's what you end up in life - with memories.
"And it's my mum's favourite show and she's had the worst time of it, so I thought we've got to have a bit of positive in our lives."
