Crystal Palace midfielder Will Hughes made a cheeky Liverpool-related gesture to the Manchester United fans during Saturday's match.
Hughes was at the centre of controversy in Manchester after Casemiro was shown a straight red card for putting his hands around the 27-year-old's throat.
After the altercation in the second period of the game, Hughes was getting some stick from the home supporters and decided to make a number six gesture with his hands - in reference to the number of Champions League trophies Liverpool have won. Big rivals United, in contrast, have won three.
Hughes, who is a fan of Liverpool, started for Palace at Old Trafford and it was his handball in the box that led to Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring from the penalty spot. The in-form Marcus Rashford then doubled the Red Devils' advantage before Casemiro was sent off after VAR Tony Harrington spotted the Brazilian with his hands around Hughes' neck after an on-pitch melee.
The ex-Real Madrid will now miss United's next three league matches. But they did manage to hold on for a 2-1 victory over Palace despite Jeffrey Schlupp halving the deficit.
It was a result that left the Red Devils third in the table, two points above Newcastle United in fourth, and 13 above Liverpool, whose struggles continued with a 3-0 loss at Wolves.
