From Charles being proclaimed as king, to Prince William and Kate Middleton assuming titles of Prince and Princess of Wales, the Royal Family has had some major changes since the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8.
A change in title is traditionally an automatic right that comes with the ascension of a new monarch, and it's something extends to all children and grandchildren of a sovereign.
This means that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Archie and Lilibet – who were great-grandchildren of the sovereign at the time of their births – are also entitled to royal titles such as Royal Highness and prince or princess.
Will Harry and Meghan's children be given new titles?
Following the tradition established by King George V in 1917, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two children Archie and Lilibet can technically be referred to as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – if they choose it.
However, while Prince William and Kate Middleton as well as their children have had their titles updated on the royal website, Archie and Lilibet's titles have still not been updated, with them still being referred to as Master and Miss.
A spokesman for the King said that the website would be updated "as and when we get information."
Though King Charles expressed his love for Harry and Meghan during his first public speech as a monarch, the spokesperson explained "updating love on a website doesn't quite work," adding: "We will be working through updating the website as and when we get information. At the moment, we're focused on the next 10 days and as and when we get information, we will update that website."
Can King Charles revoke his grandchildren's titles?
It is possible for King Charles to revoke Archie and Lilibet's titles.
In their Oprah interview last year, Meghan said that the Royal Family discussed changing the protocol in order to keep Archie from acquiring the royal title.
During the tell-all interview she told Winfrey: "In those months, when I was pregnant, all around this same time, we had in tandem the conversation of he won't be given security, he won't be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin will be when he's born."
If he does intend to remove Archie and Lilibet's new titles, the king will have have to issue a Letters Patent amending their rights.
