Sunderland could line-up against Will Grigg next season with Rotherham United keen on signing the former Black Cats striker. Grigg spent last season on loan with the Millers as they won automatic promotion to the Championship.
The Northern-Ireland international was released by Sunderland at the end of the campaign after a nightmare spell at the Stadium of Light. Grigg was unable to find the 'fire' from the iconic chant that followed him to Wearside. Millers boss Paul Warne has already spoken about his desire to keep Grigg at the club and sign him permanently ahead of next season.
Grigg scored six times in 29 appearances for Rotherham last season but proved an effective strike partner for 25-goal hitman Michael Smith. 30-year-old Grigg has missed the latter stages of the season with an injury but has been completing his rehab at St George's Park in Burton.

Speaking to the Rotherham Advertiser, Warne said: “I’m going to have a conversation with his agent. I would like to keep Griggy but it’s down to the player. He’ll consider the geography of it, the finances of it, what other offers he gets.
“It was a massive loss for us when he got injured. A striker’s job isn’t just to score. Look at Smudge, he’s been brilliant for us over the years but it’s only this season that he’s scored 20-plus goals.
“Griggy was the glue in our team. When he was injured his boots weren’t easy ones to fill. It might be something we sort out in a couple of weeks, it might be something we revisit in July."
