Will Erling Haaland start for Man City v Leicester? Injury latest and FPL striker options

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland could miss Saturday's Premier League fixture against Leicester City. The Norwegian striker came off at half time against Borussia Dortmund and his availability is now uncertain reports having taken a a kick on the ankle while also suffering from a fever.

City should have enough firepower to see off Leicester, but fans will be worried if Haaland is not available for the foreseeable future. With the World Cup only a few weeks away, some fans will be happy that Norway did not qualify and the striker will be able to have a rest.

City boss Pep Guardiola gave an update on Haaland's condition in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leicester game on Friday. Guardiola said: "He feels better but we will train this afternoon and we will assess in a few hours. We will see how he is feeling and then we will decide."

However, City fans are not the only people affected by Haaland's injury. Over 80% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners have Haaland in their fantasy teams due to the inevitability of his recent scoring form.

So who else can FPL owners choose to transfer in to make sure they can get the best points return? Lets take a look:

Julian Alvarez (£6.0m)

The most direct replacement for Haaland in FPL is his Man City teammate Julian Alvarez. The Argentinian striker has impressed in his limited minutes so far scoring four goals in 565 minutes so far.

This however has been off the wing with Haaland playing in the nine, if he is relied on as the main striker, then he might offer a better return for FPL owners.

Ivan Toney (£7.5m)

The Brentford striker has been in great form this season scoring eight goals in 12 games. With Toney coming up against Wolves who are currently struggling, it could be a great swap to make up for the points FPL owners would lose if Haaland is injured.

Darwin Nunez (£8.8m)

Though he had a rocky start to life at Liverpool, even getting sent off against Crystal Palace, Nunez has started to find his feet upfront for Liverpool. His movement is great and this means that he gets a number of chances.

Leeds United haven't won since their 3-0 victory against Chelsea and are conceding easily, setting the scene for Nunez to get quite a few goals.
