Dina Asher-Smith has pulled out of the Commonwealth Games after a painful injury at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
Great Britain were looking in top shape as Asher-Smith was passed the baton in the 4x100m women's relay.
But as the British star approached the bend, she pulled up with a hamstring injury.
Despite the pain, Dina soldiered on to finish her section of the race and hobbled to reach her teammate, but by then GBR's hopes of a medal were over.
How will Asher-Smith's fitness struggles affect the sporting star's hopes of competing in the Paris Olympics in 2024?
What happened to Dina Asher Smith?
The GBR athlete has confirmed a minor injury to her hamstring during her stint in the women's relay.
Having taken Bronze in the 200m at the sporting event in the USA, Asher-Smith was hunting down a second medal of the championships but pulled up mid-run.
In an update on social media, Dina confirmed that she had a light hamstring strain but that there were "no major issues and nothing to worry about".
However, due to the short turnaround before the Commonwealth Games starting in Birmingham on July 28, Dina has had to withdraw from competing.
She said: "I was excited to race in front of a home crowd and all the British fans. It's going to be such an amazing competition and I know that Team England will do you all proud."
Will Dina Asher-Smith compete in the Paris Olympics?
The sporting celebrity has become a household name in recent years, appearing on A League of Their Own regularly, but had to withdraw from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (which took place in 2021 due to pandemic postponement) with a hamstring issue.
This will now be the second time a hamstring injury has forced Asher-Smith to withdraw from an international competition.
However, the 26-year-old is still in the peak of her powers and will be making sure to recover quickly in order to start preparing for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
The sprinter stated on her Instagram post: "I'm looking forward to representing you all throughout the rest if the summer and wishing the best of luck to all my teammates."
The Nike athlete already has two Olympic bronze medals, but has proved her potential to do much more.
Dina Asher-Smith will be hoping to pick up gold in the Olympics in 2024 as she continues her road to recovery.
