Fremantle midfield revelation Will Brodie hopes he and Nat Fye can "do a bit of damage together" when the two-time Brownlow medallist is fit to return.
Brodie has flourished since being traded from Gold Coast to Fremantle at the end of last year in what was effectively a salary cap dump for the Suns.
The 23-year-old is averaging 27 disposals and six clearances per game this season, with his presence helping fill the void left by the injured Fyfe.
When Brodie was drafted to Fremantle, there were big doubts about whether he and Fyfe would fit together in the same midfield.
Fyfe is on track to return from a back injury in two weeks and Brodie is confident the two will thrive together.
"We're both just really excited to get in there," Brodie said ahead of Sunday's clash with Collingwood at Optus Stadium.
"I feel like the midfield mix has been really good so far. And adding a two-time Brownlow medallist to that is really exciting.
"We know that when he's at his best, he's one of the best in the comp.
"I'm looking forward to working with him and hopefully we can do a bit of damage together."
Fremantle (7-2) was handed a reality check in a shock 36-point loss to Gold Coast last week.
The Dockers will be aiming to bounce back against the Magpies (4-5).
Brodie struggled for opportunities at the Suns, with the former No.9 draft pick notching just 25 games across five seasons before being traded.
The inside mid has thrived at the Dockers, but getting used to the extra media attention in an AFL-obsessed State has taken time to get used to.
"Even throughout the trade period when the move happened, I had more media in a couple of weeks than I had in five years," Brodie said.
"It did take me a little while to adjust, but it's all part of it.
"I've really enjoyed coming into this (Fremantle) system. They've really believed in me and backed me in.
"I always had that belief I was capable, and that's why I never gave up, because I knew when my opportunity came I would be ready.
"I feel like I'm just scratching the surface at the moment of what type of footballer I can become."
