Will Barry Robson lead Aberdeen to Europe and where does the Spain rank among Scotland's best results? - Saturday Jury

Will Scotland qualify for Euro 2024?

Andy Newport : You’d think I’d have learned by now not to get my hopes up when it comes to Scotland but sod it, we’re on our way to Germany!

Craig Swan : Steve Clarke’s men could not have made a better start. Dodge defeat to Norway in Oslo and beat Georgia at home and Scotland will be perfectly placed at June’s halfway mark.

Michael Gannon : It’s early days but Scotland are in a great position. Four points each against Norway and six against Cyprus and the Tartan Army will be scoffing schnitzel next summer.

Where does the Spain result rank among Scotland's greatest results?

Andy Newport : For me it’s not quite up there with beating world champions France home and away in 2006/07 but it’s a special result that should be rightly celebrated.

Craig Swan : It’s certainly the best since the win over France in 2007. Comparing it with games from further in the past is unfair. Suffice to say it was memorable.

Michael Gannon : It’s up there among the best we’ve seen since the France double before Euro 2008. Just how big it is will depend on how we get on in the rest of the group.

Do you agree with Robbie Neilson that the Premiership is stronger, or Lee Johnson who says the gulf between the top two has never been bigger?

Andy Newport: When the rest of the top flight have managed to claim a combined two wins against the Old Firm all season the only conclusion to draw is that the gulf is huge and getting bigger.

Craig Swan : Agree with both. Johnson is right to say the gap between the Old Firm and the rest is massive, but Neilson also has a point in that it’s closer and more competitive amongst the next eight.

Michael Gannon : The both are right as they were focusing on different aspects of the debate. The gap to the big Glasgow two is wider but the margins between the rest is tighter as the sides are more competitive with each other, which has hurt chances of getting closer to the Old Firm.

Will Barry Robson lead Aberdeen to Europe?

Andy Newport : As long as he can maintain current performance levels. This is a squad that has downed tools already this season, however, so I wouldn’t be putting my mortgage on it.

Craig Swan : The caretaker manager seems to have the team moving in the right direction and he’ll get the Dons a Conference League spot.

Michael Gannon : Robson has done a superb job so far and will definitely bank a Euro spot with the top five likely to get the passports out. But the Dons could also be in with a shout of pinching third off Hearts, which should guarantee a continental jolly until Christmas.
