A bone bruise suffered in the Raiders’ week 14 loss in Tampa knocked Aidan O’Connell out of the game and had him carted off the field. The prognosis looked grim. Following the game, Antonio Pierce said it “didn’t look good”.
However, X-Rays came back negative and the injury was a bone bruise. O’Connell missed practices all week and was considered a game-time decision for the team’s Monday Night game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Ultimately he would be inactive, listed as the team’s emergency third QB and Desmond Ridder got the start in a 15-9 loss.
Aidan O’Connell injury update
Tuesday morning Pierce gave an update on O’Connell’s status for week 16 when the Jaguars (3-11) come to Las Vegas.
“We kept him as an emergency quarterback and I would say he’s trending upwards to play this week,” Pierce said of O’Connell.

Desmond Ridder would figure to start again should O’Connell still not be ready to return. Next up would be Carter Bradley.
