Wilfried Zaha makes big penalty admission after missing crucial Norwich spot kick

Wilfried Zaha says he'll have no problem stepping up for Crystal Palace from the spot again after he missed a penalty kick against Norwich on Wednesday night at Carrow Road.

The Ivorian winger had curled a sublime effort into the top corner of Angus Gunn's net in the second half moments before Palace won a penalty when Max Aarons took down Tyrick Mitchell in the area.

Zaha stepped up to take the spot-kick but failed to get a good connection on the ball, slipping just as he was about to make contact and seeing his effort skew wide of Gunn's post to the delight of the home fans.

It was the first time in Zaha's Palace career that he has missed a penalty, having put away four from four prior to his miss against Norwich.

Despite that, he told PalaceTV after the game that the next time the Eagles win a penalty he would '100 per cent' take on the responsibility again.

"As I ran up I felt my left foot slip as I went to stand before shooting," he told Palace TV after the game. "As soon as I felt it go, I thought: 'This is definitely not going to go where I want it to.'

"You've just got to get over it. In football you haven't got time to cry about it. I was asked if I got another pen whether I would stand up and take it - 100 per cent.

"I've got the confidence to go up and take it, and I've just got to make sure I score next time."

Palace's draw with Norwich means they remain 13th in the Premier League table and stretches their run without a league win to just over six weeks.

Only Brighton (12) and Burnley (11) have drawn more games than the Eagles' ten ties this season, which Zaha said was something that needed to be addressed.

His side dominated possession at Carrow Road and had more than double the number of chances on goal than Dean Smith's side.

"Obviously me missing the penalty hurts even more because I feel like I could have won it for us," he added.

"It's a frustrating day, but we need to learn from this and put teams to bed.

"It's very frustrating because we feel like we've been here too many times. I feel like we're good enough to win these games, and we should have won."
