Wilfried Zaha gives honest verdict on Aaron Wan-Bissaka's stunning late tackle for Man United

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha hailed Aaron Wan-Bissaka after the Manchester United defender produced an outstanding last-ditch tackle in the dying seconds of Wednesday evening's 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

After taking the lead shortly before half-time through Bruno Fernandes' second goal in as many games, United were pegged back right at the death, courtesy of a stunning injury-time free-kick from Michael Olise. The former Reading man bent home a sensational left-footed effort, bringing an end to the Reds' nine-game winning run.

Despite that late setback, United went close to regaining the lead in dramatic fashion through Casemiro when he failed to make full contact with a corner delivery. Palace, though, posed a threat on the counter-attack and looked set to get one last chance to test David de Gea through Zaha.

The former United man was sent scampering free by Eberechi Eze and looked poised to get a shot at goal, only for Wan-Bissaka to get back in the nick of time and produce a heroic tackle, clearing the ball away to safety. It capped off an excellent performance from the right-back, who continues to prove that he could still have a future at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for Zaha, it was the worst possible scenario, with the United defender renowned for his pace and ability to recover.

Zaha, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "Any other player [I would have got away from]. As I was running through, I had a little look back and thought, 'Oh my God, it’s Aaron'.

"He is the only one that can do that scoop tackle. Yes, it was a great tackle."
