Wilfried Gnonto mystery, Rodrigo reply, Jesse Marsch's future and his Leeds United agenda

Jesse Marsch faces the media on Wednesday afternoon for his pre-match press conference. The Leeds United head coach will take questions from television, radio, print and online journalists at Thorp Arch ahead of the Leicester City visit tomorrow.

Here is a run-down of some of the main topics on the agenda for the American to address at the training ground today.

Injury latest

Marsch is expected to deliver his usual opening salvo with a rundown of the injury situation at Thorp Arch. Leo Hjelde, Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Archie Gray are the quartet we were last told about, with all of them, bar Dallas, expected to be nearing returns.

There is the small matter of Wilfried Gnonto too. The Italy international dropped out of Sunday’s Premier League squad and we are yet to hear any reasons why the striker dropped out.

The two strikers

Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford dominated the headlines in Sunday’s loss to Arsenal. The former delivered the brainless pass which gifted the Gunners their winner, while the latter dragged a penalty wide after improving the team’s overall attacking potency.

Marsch is sure to be asked about how Rodrigo has reacted to that error, how he has been in training and how likely he might be to restore Bamford to the starting line-up after such an impact from the bench.

Into must-win territory?

The run of six matches without a win remains the top line currently. For all of the encouragement from Sunday’s display, Marsch knows it did not yield any points and that’s what Leeds badly need at the moment.

The margin for error is running thin and patience is running out in some quarters. With a visit to second-bottom Leicester City and then newly-promoted Fulham to come this week, Marsch is bound to be asked about when the win’s coming and how he feels about his job security.

Leicester’s stuttering start

Marsch is bound to be asked about tomorrow night’s opponents’ start to the campaign. From the highs of European qualification, the Foxes are now treading water in the drop zone.
