Perth Wildcats center Matt Hodgson will front a single member tribunal on Friday after being charged with striking twice and engaging in a melee during Sunday's game against the Sydney Kings.
The 30-year-old was issued a disqualifying foul and ejected from the game after twice shoving Sydney guard Dejan Vasiljevic in the face during the third quarter of the Kings' 96-81 NBL win.
A brawl involving multiple players and coaches ensued before the referees assessed the footage and removed him from the game.
Hogson, in his first year with the Wildcats, issued an apology on Wednesday via the clubs' Instagram.
"I consider my reaction out of character and I'm extremely disappointed in myself as I've let down my teammates, club and fans," he said.
"To Dejan, I'm sorry, there is no excuse for my behaviour.
"I take full responsibility for my actions and will make every effort to improve myself physically and mentally before returning to the court."
In a statement, the Wildcats said they pride themselves on integrity and character and do not condone the actions that occurred during Sunday's contest.
"While out of character, Hodgson's actions were not in line with the club's core values or the type of behaviour it expects from its players and staff as role models in the community," they said.
"The club will continue to provide its full support to Matt throughout the tribunal process."
Hodgson's tribunal will sit Friday at 1.30pm AEDT.
