Clearer skies greet fans after heavens open on tennis

Tennis fans have enjoyed a day of warm sunshine at Melbourne Park, after a weekend deluge threatened to cause carnage with the opening rounds of the Australian Open.

Victorian emergency services spent overnight Sunday dealing with hundreds of assistance calls after wild weather wreaked havoc, while much of the opening day's play of the grand slam was washed out.
