Wigan Athletic are determined to beat Sunderland to the signing of Everton striker Nathan Broadhead. That is according to the Northern Echo, with Alex Neil keen to re-sign the former loanee who netted 13 times last season at the Stadium of Light.
Broadhead was not included in Everton's matchday squad for their defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, despite the lack of attacking options available to Frank Lampard. The 24-year-old was included in the Toffees' pre-season tour of the USA, but has only been afforded limited minutes to impress.
However, Broadhead is reportedly mulling over a new contract offer at Goodison Park. The striker has entered the final year of his deal, but could yet opt to extend his stay with the Premier League side.
