Tina Turner 's son Ronnie reportedly died of cancer after suffering for three weeks before his death, wife Afida Turner has said.
It was announced earlier this week that Ronnie had died aged 62 outside his California home. The son of the Simply The Best singer was a musician himself playing with the group Manufactured Funk.
Tina, 83, who shared Ronnie with her ex-husband Ike Turner, paid tribute to her late son on Instagram writing: "Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son."
Ronnie's window Afida, who married the musician in 2007, also paid tribute to her late husband on social media. The French media personality shared a series of photos from over the years while praising Ronnie as ‘a terrific musician and bass player’ with an ‘amazing soul’ and a ‘heart of [a] giant’.
She called Ronnie a ‘true angel’ and a ‘highly spiritual one of a kind’, as she told her followers of her heartbreak over his death. "Very very very bad Ronnie got sick in 3 weeks f**k cancer," she said.
According to TMZ, the 62-year-old Ronnie died "outside his home" after "having a hard time breathing". He had reportedly been suffering from past health issues. Law enforcement sources told the media outlet that they "received a 911 call Thursday morning from a person who said Ronnie was outside their home and having a hard time breathing."
Ronnie also took a role in the 1993 biopic about his mother, titled 'What's Love Got To Do With It'.
Tina's eldest son Craig Turner, who she shared with musician Raymond Hill, died by suicide in 2018. Speaking about Craig on Twitter, Tina wrote: "He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby."
