Wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator shot and son arrested, police say

  • Elijah Zion Bieniemy, son of Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Eric Bieniemy, has been arrested and charged in Virginia for allegedly shooting his mother, Mia Bieniemy.
  • Authorities responded to a shooting in Ashburn, Virginia, late Sunday, where they found Mia Bieniemy, 57, with multiple gunshot wounds.
  • Mia Bieniemy was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition on Monday.
  • Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, faces charges including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.
  • He is currently being held without bond, and Eric Bieniemy was absent from the Chiefs' Monday workout, with the team issuing a statement respecting the family's privacy.
