A woman is giving away a coffin online after her husband “lived longer than she hoped”.
Margaret Stables, from Easdale near Oban in Scotland, placed the advert with a picture showing a silver coffin with a white pillow inside on Monday.
The wife took social media by storm with the Facebook Marketplace advert.
Margaret wrote: "Giving away a brand new coffin. Bought it for my husband but he has lived longer than I had hoped and expected so no longer required and it’s cluttering up my house.
"Pillow not included as my dog has taken to it. I am in Easdale but can deliver within reason."
The Daily Record reported that a number of witty comments quickly appeared on the post.
One person joked: "Does it fit any husband?" while another tagged her partner and said: "Early Christmas present for you babe?"
Meanwhile, a third said: "I bought one of these last year as a birthday pressie for the mother-in-law. She didn't use it - so she's getting buggerall this year!"
Many others were left scratching their heads as to whether the listing was for real - but Margaret has since told the Record that it is a genuine advert and revealed how she purchased the coffin for her husband after he annoyed her when drunk.
Speaking to the Record, Margaret said: "I bought it in lockdown for a laugh cause we were out at a friends garden party one night.
“We’d both had a few too many to drink and he was annoying me, so I thought it’d be a laugh to buy this for him."
Margaret's ad is not the only unusual online listing that has got social media users talking.
Last year, an advert for a spare room in a flat was blasted online after it was discovered that the new tenant had to leave the house for six hours a day - despite paying for the space.
In the advert, the current tenant was looking for someone to move in but wasn't really willing to share the space - and even stated that they wouldn't be able to touch some furniture.
And just last month people were left outraged after a pub posted a job advert but said that "Karen's", "Darren's" and "wet wipes" should not apply.
The Sanddancer South Shields caused a stir with the strongly-worded job listing shared to Facebook.
It read: "We’re looking for an awesome ASSISTANT MANAGER, who wants a job: to jump on board with us, we don’t want Karen's or Darren’s, so please no wet wipes, or Debbie downers, I’ve heard it all before that you’re rude, you’re unprofessional, that we're the problem, you’re childish blah blah, jump on your phone and dial 0121-go-do-one as you’re not what I’m looking for!”
