- Joshua Kerry, 28, has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with the murder of Reform UK spokesperson Ann Widdecombe at her home in Devon.
- Prosecutors allege Mr Kerry struck the 78-year-old 21 times with a hammer in a politically and ideologically motivated attack.
- He is also charged with preparing acts of terrorism, including targeting Reform UK leader Nigel Farage after allegedly attempting to break into his home.
- The court heard that Mr Kerry harboured a particular ‘hostility towards Reform UK’ and stored the addresses of several public figures on his phone.
- Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb remanded the defendant into custody, setting a trial date for 8 June next year.
