Another year is almost over and as we near the end of 2022 it is a good time to reflect on the last 12 months at Crystal Palace and what has been achieved.
Patrick Vieira has overseen steady progress in his first season in charge, with the Eagles finishing 12th in the Premier League and reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup, eventually bowing out of the competition to Chelsea at Wembley.
The 2022/23 campaign has brought some highlights already too, with Palace currently 11th in the table after important wins against the sides around them like Aston Villa, Leeds United and West Ham United.

There have been plenty of standout moments and memorable performances, but four players in particular have stood out across 2022 for their efforts and have been nominated for Palace's Fans’ Footballer of the Year Award. Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze make the list for their contributions at the top end of the pitch, while goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and centre-back Joachim Andersen have proved to be integral members of Vieira's starting line-up.
Spaniard Guaita has continued to be a key man for Vieira and Palace in goal, with his performances ensuring he has remained the first choice between the sticks in the Premier League, ahead of Jack Butland and summer arrival Sam Johnstone.
Guiata has played all 14 league games for Palace so far this season, keeping three clean sheets and making vital saves in key moments for the Eagles, none more so than in the goalless draw with Newcastle United in September, when the 35-year-old put in a man-of-the-match display.
He has now made 140 appearances for Palace since joining from La Liga side Getafe in July 2018 and remains a popular figure among fans, cementing his place as a firm favourite with each season that passes due to his on-field performances and character off the pitch too.
