Ian Evatt believes the two goals that Kyle Dempsey scored against Wycombe is exactly why Bolton Wanderers bought the midfielder as he demonstrated his quality in the victory.
The Whites took the lead in the first half of the 3-0 victory when Dempsey finished to give Wanderers the advantage following good work from Liverpool loanee Conor Bradley. They doubled their lead just before the break when Aaron Morley slotted home from Dapo Afolayan's pass.
Dempsey added his second after the break as Wanderers ran out worthy 3-0 winners. It leaves the Whites third in the League One table after two matches so far.

Dempsey had a limited time on the pitch following his deadline day move in January from Gillingham owing to injuires. It restricted his time on the pitch but he has come back raring to go for the new campaign.
And the performance against the Chairboys was an illustration of why Wanderers brought the midfielder to the University of Bolton Stadium, Evatt said. Dempsey is part of a competitive and diverse squad at Wanderers which gives the Bolton boss the options to change his system depending on the encounter they have in front of them.
He said: “That’s why we signed him because we know he gives us that goalscoring prowess from midfield. We know he can make those forward runs. He’s energetic, he can handle the ball, he’s a good player but I’ve got loads of good players and it’s about selecting the right team for the right challenges.
“It’s going to be tough and there’s going to be people disappointed but that’s football.
“We’re trying to recruit players that offer us different things and we can play two sixes and a 10 or we can play a single six and two eights and today we went with the two eights for more energy running forward and forward runs.
“Kyle and Aaron did that with the goals. Kyle’s a very good player. We’ve been hit and miss really with injuries since he’s come but that was mostly historical stuff and the start of last season, but he’s over them now. He’s been training really well and he’s fully fit and he showed today what a good player he is.”
Jack Iredale made his competitive debut for Wanderers in the left-wing back slot. Evatt believes the defender is still getting used to Wanderers but was pleased with what he saw from the summer signing.
He said: “Some good stuff and he’s still getting used to what we do and it’s probably completely different to what he’s been used to. Delighted for him, delighted for his debut to get off the mark with a win but it’s only one win.
"We’ve got lots of work to do. I enjoyed today, I enjoyed watching that because it looked a lot more like us than it did from last week but we’ve got two more games this week which are going to be extremely challenging and we have to get ready to go again.”
