Gabriel Martinelli got Arsenal off to the perfect start against Liverpool on Sunday. The Brazilian put the Gunners ahead inside the first minute, firing home after meeting a delightful Martin Odegaard through ball.
It gave Arsenal the platform to go on and record a real statement victory, as they saw off Jurgen Klopp's side 3-2. The Gunners were pegged back twice in the game, but Bukayo Saka scored a brace to send Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League.
Saka also played a key role in Arsenal's opening goal, driving forwards with the ball after receiving a pass from Ben White. However, there is some debate as to whether the goal should have counted due to Saka's involvement in the opener.

As he received the pass from White, Saka appeared to be in a possible offside position just beyond the halfway line. After Martinelli scored, the goal was reviewed, however a conclusive verdict could not be reached due to Saka not being visible in any of the five cameras that are utilised by those at Stockley Park.
According to Liverpool Echo, the offside lines could not be virtually drawn to ascertain whether the Arsenal forward had mistimed his run and Michael Oliver was therefore left with no other choice than to stick with the on-field decision. While the Gunners were impressive in victory against the Champions League finalists, it appears that they may have had a slice of luck due to VAR's pretty unprecedented technical error.
The rest of match wasn't short of controversy, with Arsenal awarded a penalty with 15 minutes to go after Thiago Alcantara was adjudged to have fouled Gabriel Jesus in the box, with Saka converting the spot-kick. Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane disagreed on the decision on Monday Night Football, with the former Manchester United midfielder saying: "It’s tough but, he does make contact and you are in trouble."
