Sue Gray's report and findings on the Partygate scandal may have well provided the main catalyst for Boris Johnson's vote of no confidence this evening, but Tory grievances against him go back much further.
Problems for the PM began with a completely different row over standards in public life, inclusive of the Owen Paterson lobbying scandal of 2021 - in which Johnson primarily backed him following a parliamentary breach of rules on paid lobbying by MPs.
Wales Online report that Boris also allegedly whipped Conservatives to support an overhaul of the standards system rather than suspend Mr Paterson from the House.
