Florent Malouda has explained why Todd Boehly and give Mauricio Pochettino time to work his magic at Chelsea. The former Tottenham boss is expected to take the helm at Stamford Bridge this summer and, while the American billionaire will be keen to see an immediate improvement, the Blues have been encouraged to remain patient.
football.london understands that Pochettino has agreed a deal to become Blues manager at the end of the season. After weeks of positive talks, the two parties finally reached an agreement last week – just hours after the west Londoners' draw with Nottingham Forest.
The 51-year-old is expected to be in London this week to sign a three-year deal. Pochettino will be hoping to implement his exciting ideas as quickly as possible to get the supporters on side, though his fantastic work at Spurs didn't happen over night.

As the saying goes, 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. In an interview with BoyleSports, Malouda heaped tremendous praise on the Argentine and revealed what his 'biggest challenge' will be.
"I think Mauricio is a good option because he is a good manager who has been successful in the Premier League and done it with another Premier League club," said the former Chelsea winger. "But he will face the exact same challenge I have just talked about when it comes to dealing with the current squad.
"He will need to trim the current squad and also have the ability to build a squad of his own based on his beliefs and his philosophy. We know that at Chelsea you don’t get time to build.
"People expect results - especially with the quality of the squad. I think Mauricio Pochettino is a good manager, a young manager with modern ideas and now it is up to Chelsea to support him fully to build on his philosophy with the players that he wants.
"If he can't get the players that he wants, then he has to immediately work on turning around the lack of confidence and getting more from the squad he does have. So that will be the biggest challenge and we have seen that he can do it, based on what he did in Paris, he gets very close to players and that is where he can really thrive with this squad."
Graham Potter, who was sacked earlier this year, was brought in to catalyse a new era at Stamford Bridge but, following a poor run of form, he was moved on. Pochettino will be hoping for a bit more time than his predecessor.
