I've been tracking the Presidents' Day mattress deals for over two years and my biggest piece of advice is this: if you're thinking of buying a new mattress, now is a great time to do it.
Why? For a start, many of the best mattresses we've tested for all sleep styles are on sale today, including some that have dropped down to their Black Friday prices.
Here are my top reasons for why now is a great time to buy a mattress, plus I'll touch on the the pesky price increases that might catch you out if you wait for a later sale like Memorial Day in May...
Today's top mattress sales
- Saatva: save $400 on our favorite mattress
- Bear: 35% off our top cooling mattress
- Helix Sleep: 25% off sitewide
- DreamCloud Mattress: Up to 60% off + free bedding
- Nectar Mattress: up to 50% off + up to 66% off bundles
- Brooklyn Bedding: 30% off sitewide
- Tempur-Pedic: up to $500 off mattresses
Why now is a great time to buy a new mattress
1. We're seeing the return of Black Friday prices
I track mattress sales year-round and this Presidents' Day, I'm seeing the return of many of the sales I spotted during Black Friday.
That includes 27% off at Helix when you use code TOMS27, which brings some of the best hybrid mattresses we've tested back down to the lowest prices we saw in 2025.

Black Friday is traditionally the biggest mattress sale of the year and it's when you can expect to find the lowest prices.
Presidents' Day, on the other hand, is typically a smaller sale. So when you spot the return of a Black Friday deal, you know you're probably getting a pretty good deal.
2. You can get ahead of price increases
A combination of mattress tariffs and increased costs of goods meant many sleep brands raised prices last year.
We saw price hikes hit some of our favorites, including Saatva, WinkBed, and Avocado. That meant by Black Friday 2025, some mattresses were over $100 more expensive than during Presidents' Day 2025.

I'll be honest; I expect the trend to continue in 2026.
So the prices we see right now might be the lowest they'll be moving forward.
Memorial Day is traditionally a bigger mattress sale than Presidents' Day (and I'll talk about it more below) but it's a few months away — who knows what prices we'll be looking at then.
3. You can prepare for warmer weather
It might seem like we're in the midst of winter still but it won't be long until spring shoots start poking through and then the next thing you know it's the first of the heatwaves and you're waking up at 3 a.m. coated in night sweats.
We have plenty of advice for sleeping better in the heat but one of the best things you can do is invest in a cooling bed.

Luckily, the Presidents' Day mattress sales include discounts on some of favorite cooling mattresses.
And if a mattress is out of your budget, I've also spotted some discounts on cooling pillows and sheet sets (like 20% off Cool+ Pillows at Coop.)
By shopping now, you can sleep smug and chilled when the weather changes.
4. It's a long time until the next big sale
After the deals come thick and fast in November and December, Presidents' Day is the first big mattress sale of the year.
But once Presidents' Day is over, the next major sales event isn't until the Memorial Day mattress deals on Monday 25th May.

Admittedly, I expect some Memorial Day discounts will start to roll in at the start of May but you're still waiting over two months to save on a bed. That's a long time to spend on a bad mattress.
If you've noticed a few red flags that your mattress needs replacing, act now to avoid poor sleep for the next few months.
