Why Thomas Tuchel was furious with Kai Havertz as Cristiano Ronaldo floored by Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea will be bitterly disappointed their Old Trafford hoodoo did not come to an end on Thursday evening. The Blues hadn't won at Manchester United's home stadium since May 2013 - and that is still the case after the hosts held them to a 1-1 draw on the night.

The first-half was all Chelsea. There were plenty of opportunities for the visitors to go ahead in the opening period, but they were wasted. It took until the second-half for the Blues to make their dominance count.

Marcos Alonso volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to put Chelsea ahead at Old Trafford, but that was met with a swift reply from United. Cristiano Ronaldo - who else - smashed the ball past Edouard Mendy to earn a point for the hosts in Manchester.

"One team deserved to win and that was us," Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel explained to Sky Sports after the game. "We didn't take it. It was a very, very good performance but we were not decisive enough. We lacked a bit of determination in the box to win the game.

"It sometimes happens. It's on us to learn from it. You need to be clinical to get the reward. We have to live with a point but it's not a fair result. We worked so hard to get the lead and suddenly the opponent gets one free shot and scores."

With all of this being said, football.london takes a look at some of the moments you may have missed from the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford...

Tuchel vents anger at Havertz

Kai Havertz had the golden chance to give Chelsea the lead in the first-half. The Blues attacker was released through a fine ball from N'Golo Kante and he was clear one-on-one with David de Gea.

Havertz ran through on goal, on his left foot, but couldn't beat De Gea, who saved the ball well. It was a glorious opportunity for the German, and it wasn't the only one.

The Chelsea star, who had been in fine form before the match at Old Trafford, had a free header not long after the aforementioned one-on-one but headed it straight at De Gea. Tuchel cut an unhappy figure on the sidelines.

After the first chance, the cameras cut to Tuchel, who was absolutely furious with Havertz wasting the chance. Tuchel had his say on the missed chances from Havertz and Timo Werner after the game.

He told Sky Sports: "It's for them to also adapt. It's still a time of adaptation to the schedule. The schedule is ruthless for us and the demands. Mason is still young, Timo is still young, and Kai will still come. And it will come, they will learn, because they have the right attitude."

Ronaldo floored by Azpilicueta

When you look at the size of Ronaldo compared to Cesar Azpilicueta... if they went into a shoulder-barge together, who would you think would come out on top? Ronaldo, right?

Well, no. Chelsea captain Azpilicueta floored Ronaldo right in front of the travelling Blues supporters in the corner of Old Trafford, which was met with a huge cheer from the fans.

Ronaldo caused Chelsea plenty of problems throughout the evening, but Azpilicueta definitely got the better of him on one occasion. And that's all that matters. to him at least.

Silva's brilliance

In Thiago Silva, what a truly exceptional and classy defender Chelsea have at the back. There was a moment in the second-half when De Gea whacked the ball up the pitch, Anthony Elanga then went up to try and head the ball, missed it, and Silva chested it down, then passed it on.

"I have to say, the composure shown by Thiago Silva when bringing the ball down," Gary Neville, who was commentating on the match for Sky Sports, said. "Even in the build-up to the goal United scored, in the channel against Ronaldo, it went out for a throw-in."

It was another imperious performance at the back from Silva. The 37-year-old was up against Ronaldo - and, yes, he did concede - but for the majority of the night, the Brazilian had the Portuguese international right where he wanted him.
