The Lakers will take the court this season with one rather famous name missing from their starting lineup. One that had been at the center of the franchise since Kevin Durant was a Warrior and nobody had ever heard of COVID.
That name, of course, is LeBron James. The King played in Los Angeles for eight NBA seasons—the longest single stretch of time he spent with any one team in his career. But this offseason he departed, heading east to Philadelphia in search of one last title run at the age of 41 to cap off an incredible career. He leaves behind a strong legacy in purple and gold, with a banner hanging in the rafters after saving the organization from its floundering state of the late 2010s.
