If you’re waking up and wondering why the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship is delayed on Friday, it’s not because of the incident in which Scottie Scheffler was detained and handcuffed by Louisville police at Valhalla Golf Club, which was captured on video by ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington.
Here’s the reporting from Golfweek on the delay: “According to a police report, a man was crossing Shelbyville Road Friday morning near the golf course when he was struck by a shuttle bus traveling eastbound in the center lane dedicated for buses. The man hit by the shuttle bus was pronounced dead on the scene. The PGA announced that the second round will begin at 8:35 am. ET. The first grouping was expected to tee off at 7:15 a.m. ET.”
UPDATE
Play of Round 2 will begin at 8:35 AM. All Round 2 Starting Times are delayed 1 hour and 20 minutes from the originally published time.
All spectator gates will open at 8:00 AM.#PGAChamp
