One of the more beloved traditions at the NFL Draft in recent years has been commissioner Roger Goodell giving hugs to the various prospects after they’ve been selected by their respective teams.
However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared ahead of Thursday night’s first round that Goodell recently had back surgery and might not be medically cleared for hugs.
Schefter called it a “draft-time decision” as to whether or not Goodell will feel up to giving his traditional draft-night embraces.
If you see him just offering a friendly handshake instead of a hug, this is why. We’ll see how this all unfolds once the 2024 NFL Draft gets going.
