Horsepower is one of the first numbers we look at when talking about a performance car. More horsepower sounds better. More horsepower should mean a faster car. Except it doesn't always work that way.
A 400-horsepower sports car can be slower off the line than a 300-horsepower sedan. A relatively modestly powered electric car can feel brutally quick from a stop. And two cars with exactly the same horsepower can have completely different acceleration times.
