Anya Taylor-Joy feels she can take more "risks" now she is married.
The Lucky actress married Malcolm McRae in 2022 and while she never "dreamed" of having such security in her life, she couldn't be happier.
She gushed to the September issue of ELLE UK magazine: "I don’t want to sound smug, but I love him so much. To have a best friend who goes through life with you – it has given me a sense of security that I didn’t really ever dream about.
"It wasn’t something that was on my list. Now that I have it, I just feel emboldened to take more risks because I know I’ve got something really nutritive and solid and healthy and so f****** fun. I laugh, like, 90% of the time."
Anya turned 30 in April and threw a wild "culty" celebration, with the theme 'Spectral Spring', featuring her favourite music and as many of her friends as possible.
She said: "I pulled together my 30th birthday party in two days. Two hundred of my favourite people in one place, on a Wednesday, in LA.
"My friends DJed some pretty intense techno, which I realised is not everyone’s cup of tea, but they got into it… I wanted it to look a bit culty. Everyone was in long white dresses or suits and flower crowns."
The Dune actress has long been a fan of rave music, giving up ballet when she was 15 in favour of nightclubs.
She laughed: "That’s a pretty good split of my personality, to be honest. Ballet class and deep, dark techno."
Anya thrives in "tough" situations and particularly relishes in finding fun in situations where others would be "miserable" after years of being in "dark" places.
She said: There’s a fire that starts up in me when I realise something is going to be tough. I love to be in situations where others would be miserable and make them places full of joy. Like Dune, shooting in the desert. Yes, it’s hot. Who cares? This is wild!...
"Having been in some really dark places, I now have such an appreciation for it all. What a privilege it is to be exhausted by the thing that you love!"
The Queen's Gambit star has taken a step back from social media and her life feels better for it.
She said: "I’ve kind of been offline for a while. I do sometimes feel like I don’t really know what’s going on [online], but I think it’s so nice to be fully present."
Like many of the guests at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding at New York's Madison Square Garden earlier this month, Anya declined to say too much about the celebrations.
But she said: "It was wonderful."
