Why Manchester United have a different shirt sponsor vs Brentford

Manchester United are looking to cement their place in the Premier League’s top five when they host Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday night.

A win for Michael Carrick’s side would put them back three points clear of Liverpool in third with just four games of the season remaining.

And United will have a slightly different look as they take to the pitch against Brentford.

United’s home shirt sponsor in 2025/26 has been mobile phone processor company Snapdragon.

The deal, which was agreed in 2023, is believed to be worth over £60m a year and is due to run until 2029.

But the Snapdragon logo will not be on the front of Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo’s shirts come Monday evening.

Instead, United’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the visit of Brentford will be (RED), a consumer-driven charity founded in 2006 by U2 singer Bono and activist Bobby Shriver.

(RED)’s purpose is to raise money for global health crises, so this is a fundraising initiative from United, in partnership with MatchWornShirt.

“These shirts represent the very best of football - moments on the pitch transformed into meaningful impact off it,” said MatchWornShirt co-founder Tijmen Zonderwijk.

“By bringing fans closer to the game they love, we’re turning that passion into something bigger, helping to raise critical funds and awareness for life-saving global health programmes around the world.”

Kate Charles, managing director of (RED), added: “This collection shows how purpose-driven partnerships can turn the power of sport into real-world impact.

“Each shirt tells a story from the pitch, while also helping to fund life-saving global health programs in communities where they are needed most.”

A full set of match-worn and signed shirts from the Brentford match are set to be available to fans and collectors via the MatchWornShirt website and app.
