Erik ten Hag has explained that Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were not included in the matchday squad against Leicester due to “small complaints.”
Shaw has lost his place in the line-up to in-form summer arrival Tyrell Malacia, whose start against the Foxes was his fourth appearance of the season. His last outing for the Reds was in the 4-0 thrashing by Brentford, when was hauled off at the break following a dismal display.
Throughout his time at United, the 27-year has been plagued by injury and looks to have sustained another setback, which will only hamper his attempts to get back into the starting XI.

Ten Hag will hope he can get back up to fitness quickly ahead of a packed fixture schedule before the World Cup break, during which United will need to rotate players. Other left backs Alex Telles (Sevilla) and Alvaro Fernandez (Preston) have secured season-long loans elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka is seen as a firm second choice behind Diogo Dalot at right-back. The club were open to letting him go this summer after underwhelming since his 2019 switch. He had been linked with potential moves to West Ham and former club Crystal Palace, among others, but United ultimately failed to receive a concrete offer.
