Why Liverpool are wearing different shirt sponsors for Man City match

Liverpool are currently in action against Manchester City in the Premier League at Anfield.

The Reds are looking to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table following a slow start to their domestic campaign this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side have won just twice in the league this season.

However, eagle-eyed Reds supporters will have noticed a change to Liverpool’s kit for this afternoon’s game against Pep Guardiola’s side. The reason behind the change is to do with Liverpool’s main sponsor Standard Chartered.

According to the club, Standard Chartered has swapped its logo on the front of Liverpool's shirts for the 'Futuremakers' logo to raise awareness and funds for its Futuremakers programme.

The same logo swap will also take place for LFC Women’s match against Arsenal Women on Sunday, October 23. Players from both the men’s and women’s teams will sign the limited-edition shirts after their matches and Standard Chartered will then auction them off in pairs at charitystars.com/lfc-futuremakers-2022 from October 25 to November 8.

All proceeds raised will be matched by Standard Chartered and go to the Futuremakers by Standard Chartered programme to help under-served young people around the world. This is the 11th time Standard Chartered has swapped its logo for charity, and last year Reds fans helped to raise more than £85,000 via the shirt auction for Futuremakers.
