Why Leo Hjelde and Celtic didn't work out as dad opens up on Leeds United defender's lonely year

Former Celtic youngster Leo Hjelde's dad has opened up on his move from Parkhead to Leeds United - and how hard his son found living without family in lockdown.

Highly-rated Hjelde impressed on loan at Ross County in the second half of last season, during which manager John Hughes would liken him to Virgil van Dijk.

But father, Jon Olaf, has revealed his teenaged son was struggling as he felt isolated in Glasgow, going a year without seeing his family due to Covid lockdowns, not being given a chance in the first-team and especially finding it hard being separated from younger brother Jesper.
