Why Kate was wearing earrings 'the wrong way' at Coronation

Experts have explained why Kate, Princess of Wales, appeared to be wearing her earrings 'the wrong way round' at the Coronation.

Kate wore pearl and diamond Collingwood earrings which were originally gifted to then-Lady Diana ahead of her wedding to Charles. They were given to Kate following her marriage to William.

Diana wore the earrings to a fundraising dinner in Sydney in 1996, and was pictured in them at a Gala dinner held by The American Red Cross and while on a tour of Korea.

But fans noticed that Kate was wearing them in a different way to how Diana wore them - switching the right and left ears. The Daily Mail now reports that Kate wanted to put her own spin on things.

The rest of Kate's outfit included a formal robe alongside an Alexander McQueen dress in ivory silk crepe with silver bullion and threadwork embroidery featuring rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs.

She topped off the gown with a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen Headpiece with silver bullion, crystal and silver threadwork three-dimensional leaf embroidery.
