Why is Strictly on Sunday? Show moved from Saturday slot with results on Monday

Strictly Come Dancing will not air this Saturday due to a TV schedule shake-up.

The remaining couples will take to the dancefloor for the semi-final and perform two dances. However, rather than air on a Saturday, as usual, the main show will now be on Sunday, December 11 at 7.15pm on BBC One .

This instalment will last one hour and 40 minutes before the results show airs on Monday, December 12 at 8.15pm on BBC One. In the results show, the couples will find out who has won a spot in the final.

The schedule change is due to the World Cup. On Saturday, England face France at 7pm in the quarter finals.

Last weekend, Kym Marsh has become the 10th celebrity to leave Strictly after a closely-fought musicals week. The presenter and former Hear'Say star, 46, faced Molly Rainford in the dance-off after finding herself at the bottom of the leaderboard with 34 points.

Her energetic Eighties-style cha cha to Fame alongside partner Graziano Di Prima came after she missed last week's show following a positive Covid-19 test. After discovering her fate, Kym spoke of wanting to make her father, who has been receiving treatment in hospital following a prostate cancer diagnosis, happy.

She said: "My dad has been so proud and it's kind of kept him going. When he was in hospital last week, and obviously we weren't here, all these guys sent him videos and it meant such a lot.

"My grandchildren are so proud."
