Despite being an honoured member of the British military, the Duke of Sussex will not be wearing his uniform as he mourns the Queen today.
Previously, Harry saw action on the front line during two tours of duty in Afghanistan. However, he will be wearing civilian clothes during today's funeral because he is no longer classified as a working royal.
According to protocol, only active and working royals may be permitted to wear their military uniform at the Queen's funeral. Following his separation from the royal family, Harry was also stripped of his honorary military roles including Captain General of the Royal Marines.

Ashley Hansen, Prince Harry's spokesperson, confirmed in a statement: "Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex will wear a mourning suit throughout events honouring his grandmother." He added: "His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears, and we respectfully ask that focus remains on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."
Earlier last week, he wrote of his fond memories of when the Queen attended his passing out parade in 2006 when he became an officer in the British Army. He spoke of his "first meeting" with his grandmother as "my Commander-in-Chief".
While the Duke of Sussex will not be wearing his military uniform today, Prince Andrew has been given special permission to wear his despite also not being a working member of the royal family. He stepped down from public life after the controversy that stemmed from his friendship with paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
In January, he was stripped of all his honorary military roles, including the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, ahead of his legal settlement. Andrew was sued by Virginia Giuffre who alleged that he sexually assaulted her when she was 17 and trafficked by Epstein - claims that Andrew denies.
